Hello fellow photographers, my name is Kristof Claeys and I’m a Belgium based wedding and family photographer. I had the honor multiple times to be invited as a jury member for international wedding & family awards and when I scroll through thousands of images I often get jealous. Exotic landscapes, amazing light conditions, ceremonies in fancy venues. But I’m born in Flanders fields; with over 200 rainy days a year, farmland as a scenary and some venues who had their glory days in the 90’s. For me it’s necessary to find beauty in ordinary situations. This is why I use a documentary approach for a wedding story or day in the life session. I find more satisfaction in creating interesting reportage images, because I have to work for it. My style is brutally honest and represents a realistic display of a wedding story. Invisible during the day for the couple and their guests, but like Cato in the Pink Panther I dive ninja-style in every moment. This approach earned me 200 international photo awards and top spots in various associations (Fearless, Masters, Inspiration, This is Reportage,…) and the title of ‘international family photographer of the year’ at the Golden Lens Awards 2021 in Brazil.
